I'm teaching a tutoring class this semester for those of our kids that are just SO CLOSE to scoring the next level on their FSA. We've got 33 lessons and 20 days to teach them...do the math...this isn't going to work for a group that needs to have the lessons slowed down in the first place. The other math teacher & I sat down and figured out which lesson to cut and do with quick reviews (surprise...all the fraction stuff was kept)..and another Math Ladder was born.

Math Ladders

I've added a new Math Ladders to my growing series. And, it's one I've been needing in my classroom!!

I find myself putting at least one multiplication & one division math ladder in my centers rotation every week. My fourth graders need constant review of these concepts. And, once they learn the center, they're easy to switch out on the kids.

Skills in this Set:
Set 3.8 A – Factors are Multiples of 10 and 1,000
Set 3.8 B – Factors are Multiples of 10 and 100
Set 3.8 C – Second Factor is a Multiple of 10
Set 3.8 D - All Digits Are Low, No Zeros
Set 3.8 E – No Zeros
Set 3.8 F – No Zeros
Set 3.8 G –Problem Has a Zero in the First Factor (not multiples of 10)
Set 3.8 H - Mixed
Set 3.8 I - Mixed
Set 3.8 J - Mixed

Game Boards

I posted a few new game boards tonight and started working on a holiday series. I love how easy it is to change up the feel of a center without a lot of work just by using a different game board. The kids think they're doing something Christmas-related one minute and a month later they're working on Snowmen or Valentine's Day...and, I didn't even change the task cards!

Use these with any set of task cards and your centers are instantly updated for the month.

Classroom Sticky Note Planning Calendar (2016-2017)

For the last I don't know how many years I've used sticky notes to plan my year. Sticky notes. Yes. When I first met with my administrator about my plans, I had my nice, neat digital ones on the server for her to look at while I looked through my sticky notes calendar. She laughed. But, you know what? It works for me! I'm a planner (I've already got Science & Social Studies mapped out for the entire 2016-2017 school year and we haven't had the first day of pre-planning yet). I worry about not getting through all of my standards (in Science/SS because I teach two subjects in one period or in Math because there are more lessons than there are days before the state testing) so planning it all out at once helps me stay on track. Sticky notes help in that it's easy for me to move things around. Unplanned workshop, field trip, sick child? No problem, switch a couple things around and I'm good to go.

Long Division Math Ladders

Whew! I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer. My husband came home from a year-long deployment overseas and we celebrated with some time at Disney. I'm wrapping up my summer by prepping for the next school year (we go back in two weeks - ikes!) and knocking out some TPT projects I've been meaning to get around to.
